BACK FROM OKC!!!

WOW!!!! We had a great weekend at the Shoot Out! Tux and JR both made the Shoot Out Finals!!!!
Tivoli Moon aka "Tux" -Well the little man showed what he was made of! OKC has never been his best pen, but he sucked it up on Saturday and took 4th Place out of 866 entries, leading the barrel race until evening with a time of 15.707!!!!!! Made the 1D ShootOut!!!!!!
Thank you BABBY for having faith in ME!!! I may have trained him, but you got him here!
Shawne Easy Bug aka "JR"-Runs a 16.0 in both long goes (1D on Friday and 2D on Saturday)Earning himself a spot in the 2D ShootOut.
Kim and I are constantly shaking our heads at JR. I want to give credit where it is due on this horse. When Kim Booth came to me a week or two before the 2008 Heartland tour at Chickasha, Ok and asked me to ride JR I think we were both kinda holding our breath. Sometimes good horses get a bad rap to no fault of their own JR is proof of that. He was often viewed as a bit grabbing barrel crashing fool. Kim and her husband Danny decided to take a chance on him and give him a shot. She and Danny took him back to the basics at home AWAY from the barrels and also took the time to get him to a place where he could like his job again and Kim competed on him herself. If there is one thing I am sure of it would be that JR likes running barrels. He doesn't fear it, He doesn't dread it, and he gives all of himself in the best way he knows how EVERY time he goes in the pen. Sometimes he tries too hard and this is what has gotten him into trouble in the past, not the idea that he was looking for a way out.
I was brought into the picture as a pilot only. This was a surprise to me as I have always and still do veiw myself as a much better trainer than competitor. So I took this as a way to challange myself to be a better competitor and maybe it would be good advertisement for my business in the future. For once I didn't let my fear of failure hold me in the rut as a competitor I was in for most of my life. I thank GOD and Kim for opening the door for me on this journey.
And yes, we have run around, over and through barrels along the way, BUT it has not once been because JR was a cheater or a "PROBLEM" horse. He just flat out tried too hard sometimes. I, as the leader or "pilot", wasn't focused or just either put him in the wrong spot or didn't trust him to do his job.
Since the BBR Finals in April of 2008 at OKlahoma City JR has advanced from the 3D into the 1 and 2D. He has been a 1 and 2D competitor at many tough Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri competitons. He is locally now a consistant 1D threat when he comes in the pen. We have just began to test him on the Pro Rodeo sceen and he has respectivley stepped up to the challange. I beleive up to this moment the only hold back in this playing field has been my own inexperiance and insecurities as a competitor at the Amature and Pro Rodeo level.
JR has not yet meet his full potential, but he is well on his way to being one to watch in the near future.
Thank you Kim Booth and Babby Simunek for having faith in me and my ability.Thank You for allowing me to throw my saddle on the backs of two of these two SUPER nice horses. And thank you my Heavenly Father for allowing me the oppertunity to do what I do. It is in our Lord Jesus Christ that all things a possible!!
